Butzbach, 09 April 2026 - RIEDEL Networks, provider of customized IT security and network services, is modernizing its global backbone and investing in the new Cisco 8010 and Cisco 8400-G2 series router generations. The infrastructure forms the basis for secure media transmissions - including one of the world's largest motorsport series.
With the comprehensive modernization of its network infrastructure - from central distribution points to customer and office locations - RIEDEL Networks is responding to increasing security requirements in the media and broadcast industry. At the same time, the company is systematically gearing its systems towards the post-quantum era.
The new Cisco 8010 and Cisco 8400-G2 router platforms will enable the integration of NIST-compliant post-quantum cryptography (PQC) procedures in the future. RIEDEL Networks is thus creating the basis for the highly secure transmission of sensitive data streams - from global live productions and motorsport events to corporate networks with strict compliance requirements.
"Quantum computing is no longer a distant future, but a foreseeable challenge for IT security," says Michael Martens, CEO of RIEDEL Networks. "If you want to protect data in the long term, you have to prepare your infrastructure for it today."
The ongoing digitalization of production and distribution processes is significantly increasing the attack surface in the media industry. Current analyses such as the OOPS H2-2025 Report show that cyberattacks are continuing to increase, are becoming more and more professionally organized and can cause considerable operational and economic damage.
"Ransomware attacks on post-production houses, phishing campaigns against streaming services or targeted network attacks during live events show how vulnerable digital production environments have become," explains Julia Kirk, Team Leader Sales Media & Events at RIEDEL Networks. "A security incident can not only disrupt productions, but also cause lasting damage to trust."
RIEDEL Networks has been active in the media and broadcast industry since 1987 and supports international sports productions and major live events with highly available networks. The focus is on stable, secure signal transmission in business-critical environments.
The company also offers managed security services, including a Security Operations Center (SOC), continuous monitoring and incident response. The solutions are tailored to the requirements of media productions and live broadcasts.
While many companies still rely on traditional encryption, RIEDEL Networks is already gearing its infrastructure towards future cryptographic standards. The goal is a resilient and long-term secure media infrastructure for global data streams.
